About Matthew Hummer

Matthew Hummer is a Licensed Independent Marriage and Family Therapist with over 17 years of experience working with children, adolescents, couples, adults, and families. He specializes in couples and family therapy along with individual mental health treatment for children and adolescents.  He also specializes in pre-marital therapy, working with families post separation/divorce, along with the treatment of trauma, mood disorders, self-harm behaviors, and disruptive behavior disorders.  In his work as a family therapist, Matthew incorporates a variety of evidence-based treatment modalities such as Integrative Systemic Therapy, Structural Family Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectic Behavioral Therapy (DBT).

Matthew has worked in a variety of clinical settings including adolescent residential treatment centers, hospitals, group therapy services, in home therapy, crisis services, and outpatient mental health counseling. He is currently the Division Director of Residential Treatment at Bellefaire JCB.

Professional Background

Matthew earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Dayton. He earned his Masters of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy from The Family Institute at Northwestern University.
