Dr. Tira Stebbins

As director of the Child and Adolescent Center at OPH, Dr. Stebbins provides psychotherapy to children, adolescents and adults, as well as comprehensive psychological assessment services.

Dr. Tira Stebbins

Dr. Tira Stebbins is a licensed clinical psychologist with over 16 years of experience working with children, adolescents, families and adults in the field of psychology/behavioral health. She specializes in treating anxiety disorders, mood disorders, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), trauma, self-harming behaviors and disruptive behavior disorders. She also has expertise in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and she utilizes a Family Systems approach when working with children and adolescents. Along with providing individual, family and group counseling to individuals facing various challenges, Dr. Stebbins also specializes in psychological testing including psycho-educational testing (e.g., identification of giftedness and learning disorders), psycho-diagnostic testing (e.g., socio-emotional and personality), forensic assessments and vocational assessments.

Professional Experience

Dr. Stebbins has worked in various settings including an Anxiety Disorders Program at University Hospital; Bellefaire JCB, a community mental health center; and in private practice. She designed and managed the Doctoral Assessment Practicum Program at Bellefaire JCB, supervising doctoral students from Case Western Reserve University and Cleveland State University. Dr. Stebbins is also a consulting psychologist at Hathaway Brown School in Shaker Heights.

In 1999, Dr. Stebbins earned an MA degree in Clinical Psychology at East Carolina University and in 2012 she earned her doctorate at Cleveland State University. Her dissertation titled “The Effects of an Equine Assisted Program with Students with Emotional Disturbance” evaluated the effects of a therapeutic horseback riding program on students with emotional and behavioral disorders placed in a special education school. As a child advocate, Dr. Stebbins serves as a board member of Friends of CASA of Geauga County, which raises funds for children involved in the family court system, many of whom have experienced abuse or neglect.
