Kathleen McGavin
Kathleen McGavin, LISW joined The Organization for Psychological Health in 2006, after a 13-year affiliation with Laurelwood Hospital and Counseling Centers, where she worked as a Licensed Independent Social Worker.
Kathleen earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Youngstown State University. Subsequently, she earned a Master’s Degree in Social Administration from Case Western Reserve University. Throughout her professional career, Kathleen has worked in a variety of clinical settings, including a psychiatric hospital, an employee assistance program, a crime victims’ resource center and an outpatient mental health center.
In her work at The Organization for Psychological Health, she assists adults, adolescents and children with a diverse range of emotional and psychological concerns.
Kathleen’s goal as a mental health clinician is to assist individuals in knowing themselves and developing tools, which will enable them to achieve balance, wellness and success in their lives – personally, professionally and academically.
She approaches therapy with a nonjudgmental attitude and compassion while honoring the client as a whole person with emotional, social, physical and perhaps spiritual needs. An eclectic approach to therapy is used by Kathleen McGavin, which is solution-focused, mindfulness-based and cognitive-behavioral. She strives to form a collaborative, therapeutic relationship that facilitates personal growth and empowers clients to accomplish realistic and meaningful goals.
